Living in Edison makes getting to Manhattan and sitting in on TV shows like Saturday Night Live pretty doable. If you’re old enough, maybe you had the chance to see Billy Crystal’s Fernando Lamas character whose catchphrase was “It is better to look good than feel good.”
At Gentle Dental, we believe your teeth should look good, but they should also feel good! Regardless, we have various cosmetic treatments to make you look in the mirror and say to your teeth, “Darling, you look mahvelous.”
Do I have to wear makeup with cosmetic dentistry?
You may hear some practices go on and on about how they are “cosmetic dentists.” There is no such thing. All dentists, including the trio of expert dentists at Gentle Dental, perform procedures to make your teeth look their best. Beyond not having pain, isn’t that the goal — to have a great looking smile? So, although we don’t claim to be “cosmetic dentistry,” we provide a variety of procedures that are intended to be more aesthetically pleasing than reparative.
These are some of the more common cosmetic procedures we provide:
- Bonding— Tooth-colored dental resin is used to close gaps, cover badly stained teeth, or cover chips and cracks in teeth.
- Veneers— Ultra-thin porcelain shells are placed over the front sides of the teeth. Veneers can change the color or shape of the teeth. They can correct unevenly spaced, crooked, chipped, oddly shaped, or badly discolored teeth.
- Whitening/Bleaching— We offer in-office whitening (to return your teeth to their natural color) and bleaching (to whiten them beyond their natural color) options to make your smile a dazzling, bright white.
Do any restorations first
If you’d like to cover a chip, place veneers on your teeth, or whiten them, you need to remember these are cosmetic procedures. If you have underlying problems such as decay or a crack in a tooth that is deep enough to threaten the health of the tooth, those need to be addressed first before any cosmetic procedure can be done. The above procedures can only be done on healthy, happy teeth.
