Michael received his DDS from Columbia University . He graduated in the top of the class. To further his education, he completed an intensive residency at a Federal Hospital in New York City , where he received training in the removal of wisdom teeth and treatment of the handicapped.
Dr. Hart was awarded the coveted Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). He has also achieved the prestigious rank of Mastership (MAGD). Only one half of one percent of all dentists have ever received this award for continuing education.
In addition, Dr. Hart has earned the Lifetime Learning and Service Recognition (LLSR) from the Academy. Only six dentists in the State of New Jersey have earned this highly prestigious recognition for continuing education and volunteer dental services to the community. Some of the dental volunteer services which Dr. Hart is doing include teaching at JFK Medical Center, served on the Board of Directors for the Middlesex County Dental Society, lectured at Columbia University, mentoring dental and hygiene students, participating in health fairs, sending dental supplies to the American soldiers abroad, and donating his services to help the handicapped.
Dr. Hart feels that it is important to offer his patients the most modern services and for the doctor to continually update his skills with continuing education.
Dr. Hart is on staff at JFK Medical Center, is a member in good standing of the Academy of General Dentistry, the Middlesex County Dental Society, the New Jersey Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Hart is part of the CDC Federal Nationwide Medical Providers Network Alert System, to help the nation in the case of a natural disaster or terror alert.
Michael is active in community affairs, and charitable organizations. While he was president of the Metuchen/North Edison Rotary Club, the club raised funds for purchasing a van for the handicapped and seniors by the Metuchen YMCA. Michael is also a past president of the Westfield Rotary Club, past Assistant District Governor, Deputy Governor, and was the Rotary International District Governor from 2006 to 2007. The Rotary District encompasses five counties in central New Jersey , with 43 Rotary Clubs. While Dr. Hart was Governor, the district was rated the number one district in the world for 100% Paul Harris Fellow clubs.
Rotary International is one of the largest international humanitarian service organizations in the world. More than 1.2 million business and professional leaders in 170 countries volunteer to help improve communities. Rotary has the largest scholarship program in the world, runs many student and vocational exchange programs, and gives out over 60 million dollars per year in business grants. Most towns have a Rotary Club which do both a local project to help the local community, and an international project to help another part of the world. Rotary's Motto is Service Above Self.
The International Project of Rotary is to eliminate Polio throughout the world. To date, Rotary has raised $600 million dollars, and has vaccinated 2 billion children throughout the world. Rotary has eliminated 99% of Polio cases and expects Polio to be eliminated permanently worldwide shortly. The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times have each called for Rotary to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for these efforts.
Dr. Hart was also active in his son's Boy Scout Troop as an assistant Scout Master. The troop goes camping, bicycling, backpacking, canoeing, hiking, skiing, and other outdoor adventures. Michael is an Eagle Scout. His son is also an Eagle Scout. Only 4% of all Boy Scouts ever achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Michael has also earned “Wood Badge”, which is considered the “Eagle Scout for Adults”. On top of that, Michael was awarded the prestigious Cliff Dochterman Award for Distinguished and Dedicated service to scouting. His is a joint award for Rotary and Boy Scouts. Only 210 of these have ever been awarded worldwide in history.
Michael grew up locally in Mountainside, NJ. He is married for 31 years with two children. His hobbies include fly fishing, snow skiing, and charitable events with the Rotary. His gentle manner and genuine concern for his patients add a special dimension to his 27 years of practical experience.
